Background Info
Tojo was born in Tokyo, Japan, on December 30th 1884. He joined the Japanese Imperial Army, and went on to serve in Switzerland and Germany. He was promoted to major general in 1933. Tojo quickly climbed the ranks of the army and was soon appointed as the vice minister of war, but went back to fighting in the army. Tojo became the prime minister of Japan on October 16th 1941. Tjo was the one who ordered the attack on pearl harbor. Tojo also held many different offices such as home minister, foreign minister, and he was also commander in chief of the general staff. When tojo was sure that Japan was going to lose the war he resigned from office. He attempted suicide just before he was arrested by the Japanese military in 1945. He survived and was tried as a war criminal. He was executed on December 23rd 1948.
