Ernie Pyle
Ernie Pyle was a famous wartime journalist that covered a lot of major battles during world war II. Ernie worked for the New York World Telegram, and was sent with the U.S. Army to Africa and many other places to cover the battles that occurred. He was also at the Normandy landings, and had saw the liberation of France. He was called "America's most widely read war correspondent."
Howard K. Smith
Howard Smith was a wartime journalist, that was born on May 12th, 1914. During World War 2 he was sent to Nazi Germany to cover what was happening there. In 1941 he started working for the CBS Berlin, but after a few months of working there the Gestapo arrested him for not airing Nazi propaganda. When he was released he went to Switzerland. After Pearl Harbor, he spent the next two years of the war covering much of the war. He also was the only journalist to witness the Nuremburg executions.
