Before Lee Miller was a photographer for the US Army she was a model. She appeared on the cover of the Vogue Magazine. Then in 1932 she opened her own studio in New York City. Lee Miller was a photographer for the US Army during World War II. She was with US forces during the Invasion of France. She photographed when the Red Army met with US army at the Elbe River. She was also at Buchenwald and Dachau.
Bert Hardy photographed the Blitz and was recruited by the British Photographic Unit in 1942. He was at D-Day with the Allied Forces in June 1944. He also photographed the victims of the concentration camps that Hitler implemented. Before he was recruited by the British Army Bert was a freelance photographer. Then Tom Hopkinson gave him a job at the Picture Post.
